Responsibilities
As a Release Manager, you are responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving software releases across multiple teams and environments. You ensure that releases are predictable, transparent, and meet quality, security, and compliance expectations while enabling teams to deliver value at pace.
You operate at the intersection of Product, Engineering, QA, Operations, and other business stakeholders. While you do not own delivery execution, you own release orchestration, readiness, dependency management, and clear communication across the release lifecycle. You operate with a high degree of autonomy within defined organisational frameworks.
This role requires strong coordination skills, sound judgement, and a continuous improvement mindset. You will help evolve release practices across modern products, platforms, and delivery models, balancing speed with reliability and supporting scalable, repeatable ways of working.
These will be your main responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate end to end software releases across multiple teams, products, and environments
Own and maintain release schedules, milestones, and dependencies to ensure predictable delivery
Drive release readiness activities, including risk assessment, release decision alignment, and stakeholder sign off
Act as the central point of contact for release related communication, escalation, and decision making
Communicate clear release plans, timelines, risks, and status to technical and non technical stakeholders
Provide regular release reporting and post release insights to support transparency and learning
Identify release risks early and proactively drive mitigation and contingency plans
Ensure releases meet agreed quality, security, and compliance standards
Coordinate and support resolution of release related incidents and post release issues
Continuously improve release management processes, tooling, and ways of working
Increase automation, standardisation, and clarity across the release lifecycle
Contribute to documentation, playbooks, and shared best practices across teams
Requirements
Several years of relevant professional experience in release management or software delivery
Solid experience coordinating software releases in a complex, multi team environment
Practical understanding of modern software delivery lifecycles, CI/CD, versioning, and deployment models
Experience working in Agile delivery environments
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple dependencies and priorities
Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business contexts
Structured problem solving approach and ability to remain calm under pressure
Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on quality, reliability, and efficiency
Experience working with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git based workflows
Demonstrated ability to make sound release decisions by balancing speed, risk, quality, and stakeholder expectations
Relevant certifications such as ITIL, Scrum Master, or DevOps related certifications are a plus
Fluency in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus
Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn and evolve release practices across different products, platforms, and delivery models
