Responsibilities

 

As Senior Global Category Manager – IT (Hardware, Software & Services), you will be responsible for the strategic procurement and end-to-end category management of IT Hardware, Software, and IT Services across our global organization. You will develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy, manage key suppliers and commercial agreements, and ensure cost-efficient, innovative, and future-oriented procurement decisions.

In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders from IT, R&D, Product Management, Finance, and Legal to understand requirements, optimize total cost of ownership, and drive value across the organization. You will lead complex sourcing initiatives, negotiate high-impact contracts, and support the global procurement strategy with market insights, risk management, and continuous improvement.

 

  • Identify and drive cost reduction, process efficiency, and value creation initiatives across global, regional, and site-level IT Software, Hardware, and Services categories.
  • Contribute to high-impact strategic projects with visibility at executive level and help shape a future-oriented IT procurement landscape.
  • Develop and implement category procurement strategies in close collaboration with global stakeholders such as IT, R&D, Finance, Legal, and the Global Category Team Lead/Director.
  • Manage and lead complex contract negotiations covering software licensing, hardware procurement, service agreements, SLAs
  • Support the integration of sustainability, compliance, and risk management into procurement decisions and supplier selection processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define requirements, align sourcing strategies with business needs, and ensure smooth execution.
  • Monitor market trends, supplier performance, innovation, and risk factors to continuously improve the supplier base and overall category performance.
  • Ensure full adherence to global procurement policies, governance standards, and contribute to the improvement of tools, processes, and best practices.

 

Requirements

 

Professional Experience & Expertise

  • Extensive professional experience in Strategic Procurement and Category Management , preferably in IT Hardware, IT Services, and / or Software.
  • Strong knowledge of sourcing processes and supplier management in the IT domain.
  • Proven ability to manage complex supplier contracts and negotiations at a regional or global level.
  • Experience in driving cost optimization, efficiency improvements, and supporting category strategy implementation.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Strong competence in Excel and PowerPoint to analyze spend, structure projects, and communicate progress to management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across organizational units and functions, building alignment with stakeholders such as IT, Finance, Legal, and Operations.
  • Capable of communicating complex procurement topics clearly and persuasively.

  • Strong communication skills, able to build relationships and influence decisions constructively.
  • Structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an international environment.

Languages

  • Fluency in English (mandatory).
  • German language skills are a plus but not required.
